Dr. Elliott received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with a forensic emphasis from Sam Houston State University in 2007.  She completed an  internship at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, where she continued to receive training in forensic psychology.  Following the completion of her internship, she has worked in a variety of settings, including  as a staff psychologist at a federal prison and as a psychologist in a medical center providing interventions to individuals with chronic illness. She also served as the clinical director of a treatment agency for individual’s charged with or convicted of sexual offenses, where she conducted individual and group offense-specific treatment and offense-specific evaluations. In 2014, she accepted a position as the Internship Training Director for the APA-accredited internship program (part of an internship consortium) at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute. Shortly after, she was promoted to Chief Forensic Psychologist there. Her job duties included conducting forensic assessments for local courts (primarily competency to stand trial and culpability) as well as overseeing the state's competency restoration program. While there, she had the opportunity to serve on the juvenile subcommittee of the Criminal Justice Working Group-Title 12 Legal Competencies Subcommittee, which was tasked with developing legal standards related to assessment of competency to stand trial in juveniles. In 2016, she returned to Texas, and Sam Houston State University, as a staff psychologist, where she supervised graduate students and conducted forensic evaluations, including competency to stand trial and sanity, for local courts. She now has a full-time private practice focused on forensic evaluation and consultation.

Dr. Elliott is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, the only post-doctoral specialty certification recognized by the American Psychological Association.
