Forensic Evaluations

Forensic Psychology is the application of psychology to the legal system. Specifically, forensic psychologists assist those working within the legal system, such as attorneys, judges, and jurors, in making well-informed legal decisions by providing them with specialized knowledge. Dr. Elliott has extensive training and experience conducting forensic evaluations and serving as an expert witness in criminal forensic cases. Dr. Elliott provides forensic evaluation services for both courts and attorneys in the following areas:

Juvenile Forensic Evaluations:

  • Fitness to Proceed

  • Responsibility

  • Certification/Waiver to Adult Court

  • General Psychological Evaluations and Treatment Needs

Adult Forensic Evaluations:

  • Competency to Stand Trial

  • Sanity

  • General Sentencing/Mitigation Evaluations

  • Capital Sentencing Evaluations

  • Risk Assessment (Violence Risk and Sex Offender Risk)

  • General Psychological Evaluations with Treatment Recommendations

Rates for forensic evaluations are typically billed on a hourly basis for all related services, including consultation, testimony, and travel.

Clinical Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations assess a person’s functioning in a variety of areas, including cognitive, social, and emotional. Often the results of psychological evaluations are used to guide treatment. Dr. Elliott provides clinical evaluation services for adults in the following areas:

  • General Psychological Evaluations with Treatment Recommendations

  • Diagnostic Clarification

  • Personality Assessment

Upon completion of the evaluation, Dr. Elliott will provide a written report which includes recommendations and referrals for additional services, if appropriate.

Dr. Elliott does not accept insurance. Rates for clinical (non-forensic) evaluations will be determined on an individual case basis.

Consultation

Dr. Elliott is available for consultation to attorneys, judges, law enforcement, or other mental health professionals regarding various topics related to forensic evaluations in criminal cases and mental health services in forensic settings. She is also available for presentations and speaking engagements regarding similar topics.
